What happens if the recipient is not at home for the first delivery attempt?

If the recipient is not at home for the first delivery attempt:

  • DHL then attempts to reach the recipient at the phone number given
  • If this is not possible, DHL attempts to deliver to one of the neighbors
  • If this attempt fails as well, the deliverer will leave a small note in the recipient’s mailbox with their telephone number so that the recipient can contact the deliverer and work out a second delivery.
  • If the recipient wishes, it is also possible to pick up the package at a nearby parcel station.

Please note: DHL always requires a signature, thus it is not possible to leave your package behind in the mailbox.
